Hygiene requirements for device housings

  • The surface design must not promote the accumulation of dirt deposits.
  • The materials used must be resistant to disinfectants and abrasion.
  • Side walls and all components exposed to air flow must be hot-dip galvanised and coated.
  • The floor, including slide rails that come into contact with condensate, must be made of stainless steel or aluminium.
  • Closed-cell seals.
  • All permanently installed components must be accessible via operating openings.
  • All components must be protected against contamination and damage during the construction period.
  • Only condensate trays with a slope on all sides may be used.
  • Sight glass and lighting are required for filter and fan units.

Hygiene requirements for filters

  • 2- or 3-stage filtration depending on room class
  • Filter replacement only permitted on the dust air side
  • For filters with antimicrobial coating, proof of effectiveness and toxic safety is required
  • Filter differential pressure monitoring without barrier fluid
  • Only closed-pore sealing profiles may be used

Hygiene requirements for heat exchangers

  • Heater frame made of galvanised steel, fins made of aluminium/copper or galvanised steel
  • Cooler frame made of stainless steel or aluminium (AlMg), coated fins, aluminium (AlMg) or copper, collector made of copper
  • All parts in the wet area must be cleanable
  • All condensate connections must be located on the same side
  • Cooler must be visible from both sides
  • Coil spacing cooler at least 2.5 mm

Hygiene requirements for heat recovery

  • Surface finish of rotor or plate exchanger: Galvanised and coated frame, epoxy resin-coated or aluminium blades
  • Stainless steel trays on the supply and exhaust air side
  • Heat recovery systems must be installed on the supply air side after the first filter stage
  • In rooms where cross-room recirculation is not permitted, only systems that prevent the transfer of substances from the exhaust air to the supply air are permitted
