Roof air conditioning units are required in trains to ensure good air quality in both the driver’s cab and the passenger compartment. Okoluft fans help to create the right indoor climate and are used in these air conditioning units as condenser, evaporator, exhaust air and supply air fans.
The heat generated by various components such as traction converters, auxiliary power converters and battery chargers must be reliably cooled to ensure the proper functioning of the train. By dissipating the heat and simultaneously supplying ambient air to the equipment, manufacturers of these components are able to build more compact and powerful devices. Okoluft’s robust fans are ideally suited for efficient and low-noise cooling.
Many functions in trains that are not directly related to the driving process are controlled by electronic components in control cabinets. Okoluft fans are used to cool the control cabinets in order to protect these components and the entire control cabinet system from overheating.

The train driver’s workplace places high technical demands on heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
Whether roof-mounted systems, integrated roof units or underfloor systems – our plug fans with free-running wheels from the DKHR/M series (EC variant GKHR/M) are ideally suited for the necessary air movement. ERA centrifugal fans, AKF/AKS series axial fans and ECOFIT REE and VRE series fans are also ideal for this application.
The traction chain of a rail vehicle consists of a wide variety of elements such as traction motors and traction inverters. To prevent damaging overheating, heat losses must be dissipated. The same applies to components of the train braking system.
Plug fans with free-running wheels from the DKHR/M series (EC variant GKHR/M), ERA/DRA centrifugal fans and ECOFIT GDF series centrifugal fans are ideally suited for these applications.
Passenger comfort is a top priority in railway technology. Okoluft fans are the right choice for ensuring a pleasant climate in train carriages. They reliably achieve the required operating points within integrated system solutions, while taking up minimal space.
These requirements are met, for example, by our plug fans with free-running wheels of the DKHR/M series (EC variant GKHR/M), centrifugal fans of the DRA series, centrifugal fans of the ECOFIT GDF series , and axial fans of the AKF/AKS series.
The technical design of rail vehicles involves many electronic components, often housed in compact control cabinets. Here too, adequate heat dissipation is necessary to protect the sensitive electrical components from overheating.
Our DKHR/M series plug fans with free-running wheels (EC variant GKHR/M), ERA centrifugal fans and ECOFIT series REE, GDF and 200D fans have been specially developed for this area of application.
High-precision power supply within the electrical system of rail vehicles is state of the art today. Similar to the drive system of trains, system components such as inverters are also used here, which need to be cooled.
Our DKHR/M series plug fans with free-running wheels (EC variant GKHR/M), ERA/DRA centrifugal fans and ECOFIT REE and GDF series are used for these cooling applications.
